The Kaghan Highway has partially reopened following a six-day closure caused by the collapse of a bridge at Mahandri. The temporary reopening has led to a significant increase in pedestrian traffic in the area.
Officials from the National Highway Authority (NHA) have announced that a steel bridge will be installed within the next three days, which is expected to restore full traffic flow on the highway. Currently, the highway is accessible only to small vehicles.
The partial reopening has been met with relief by the public, who faced considerable commuting difficulties during the closure. According to the NHA, traffic has been managed by installing water pipes in the Munawar stream, and work is ongoing around the clock to ensure that the bridge can accommodate heavy traffic soon.
