ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has notified the names of heads of delegations due in Pakistan for the 23rd meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government (CHG) of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation SCO Summit) on October 15-16

SCO, which came into existence in 2001, is a permanent intergovernmental international organisation aimed at strengthening multi-sphere cooperation, promoting peace and security, and new economic international order. Its founding members are China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The Council of Heads of Government is the second highest forum within the SCO, with a primary focus on fostering cooperation among member states in socio-economic, trade, and financial sectors. The forum meets once a year to discuss the strategy of multilateral cooperation and priority areas within the organisation.

The Foreign Office further stated that SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming, Executive Committee Director Ruslan Mirzayev, Business Council Board Chairman Atif Ikram Shaikh, and Interbank Union Council Chairman Marat Yelibayev will attend the high-level meeting.
