The availability of Apple’s latest flagship, the iPhone 16 series, has increased in Pakistan, leading to a slight decrease in the excessive overpricing previously seen among local retailers.
Reports had indicated that some shopkeepers were selling non-PTA variants, which lose SIM functionality after two months, for as much as Rs800,000.
The situation is improving, as prominent distributors like Mercentile are now importing the iPhone 16 series, which limits the ability of small retailers to charge inflated prices due to the lack of an official Apple store in the country. This development has allowed Apple enthusiasts in Pakistan to access the iPhone 16 models at more reasonable prices.
Several online shopping platforms have also begun to offer the much-anticipated iPhone models, which support both physical and eSIM options, known locally as LLA models. Telemart confirmed that these devices are factory unlocked, legally usable, and come with a 12-month international warranty.

Consumers are advised to steer clear of purchasing gevey (JV) iPhones, as these devices lack legal recognition in Pakistan and are often blocked by network providers. Typically imported illegally from countries such as the United Kingdom, China, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Hong Kong, these JV iPhones pose significant risks for users.
It is important to highlight that Apple does not operate an official store in Pakistan and does not sell its products directly in the country. Instead, authorised dealers like Mercantile are responsible for distributing Apple smartphones, although an official price list for the iPhone 16 series has yet to be released.
