Xiaomi’s electric car model, the SU7 Max, has been spotted at Karachi port, fuelling speculation that Air Link, the manufacturer of Xiaomi smartphones in Pakistan, might be gearing up to introduce electric vehicles (EVs) in the country.

Sources suggest that the company is working in partnership with the Chinese tech giant, though Air Link has yet to confirm the development when approached by Business Recorder.

Details remain unclear on how many units were imported or whether this signals a broader plan to assemble the SU7 Max locally. Xiaomi made its mark in the electric vehicle sector earlier this year with the launch of its first EV in Beijing, China.

The company, better known for its affordable smartphones and home appliances, is now stepping into the EV market with bold ambitions.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun previously stated that he is putting his “reputation on the line” by launching the SU7, positioning it as a competitor to Tesla and Chinese automaker BYD.

With Pakistan seeing an increasing presence of electric vehicles, Xiaomi’s entry comes on the heels of other companies like Master Motors and DFML, which have already introduced their EVs in the market.
