Heavy rainfall predicted across Punjab this week

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather advisory predicting monsoon rains across multiple districts of Punjab until July 7.

Significant rainfall is expected in areas including Sialkot, Narowal, Shakargarh, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Mandi Bahauddin. Meanwhile, in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Murree, and the Galiyat region, residents should brace for rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.

While the rivers in Punjab—such as the Chenab, Ravi, Jhelum, and Sutlej—are currently flowing at normal levels, a flood warning has been issued specifically for the Chenab River at Marala due to potential moderate to severe flooding.

In response to these forecasts, PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia has advised local authorities to maintain a state of readiness and cautioned the public against unnecessary river crossings.

Furthermore, residents are urged to steer clear of electrical infrastructure to avoid potential hazards.

Continuous monitoring of weather patterns and river conditions is being conducted by the PDMA control room to ensure swift action and public safety in light of changing circumstances.
