By The country remains under the grip of extreme heat and a relentless heatwave, with Larkana recording the highest temperature soaring to 50 degrees Celsius.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), this extreme heatwave is expected to persist over the coming days.
Larkana registered the highest temperature at 50 degrees Celsius, with Nawabshah, Dadu, and Sibi also experiencing scorching temperatures of 47 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures in Mithi and Sukkur reached 43 degrees, while Hyderabad hit 42 degrees. Karachi recorded 39 degrees, but the heat felt as high as 45 degrees.

Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hit 48 degrees, Bannu reached 45 degrees, and Peshawar recorded 44 degrees. Gilgit experienced 39 degrees, while Muzaffarabad and Jammu both registered 41 degrees.
Meanwhile, in Punjab, the heatwave has gripped several districts, with Bahawalpur reaching the highest temperature of 46 degrees.
Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Faisalabad sweltered at 44 degrees, while Lahore experienced 43 degrees. The twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi recorded 41 degrees.
In contrast, the Astor area of Gilgit-Baltistan saw the lowest temperature in the country today at 12 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Javad Memon has warned that the heatwave could worsen in the coming days. He predicted that the intense heat will persist until May 27, with temperatures potentially rising further across Punjab during this period.
