ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) launched an anti-encroachment drive targeting illegal constructions. According to ARY News, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) head office became the latest focus of enforcement on Thursday.
Operation Details
The operation, executed with district authorities, sealed off the PTI central office in Sector G8/4. Heavy machinery and police personnel were deployed in the vicinity. CDA officials emphasized that the crackdown targets unlawfully constructed political party offices.
Legitimacy Concerns
Concerns surround the legitimacy of the PTI office’s location, initially allotted to Sartaj Ali. Investigations reveal encroachments onto adjacent lands, including an unauthorized additional floor, breaching building regulations.
Demolition and Sealing
During the enforcement action, a segment of the PTI headquarters was demolished, and the premises were sealed. CDA authorities highlighted extensive encroachments onto neighboring plots, indicating broader violations by the property owner.
Repeated Warnings Ignored
Repeated warnings and notices, spanning from November 19, 2020, to September 4, 2023, failed to rectify the infringements. Consequently, on May 10, 2024, orders were issued to seal the plot.
Upholding Regulations
The operation aligns with efforts to uphold building regulations and eliminate encroachments. This underscores the authorities’ commitment to enforcing urban governance.
