The federal government has announced a significant increase in the house rent ceiling for its employees, raising it by 45% for all grades from 1 to 22 in six major cities, with Islamabad seeing the highest adjustments.
New Rental Rates
According to a notification from the Ministry of Housing and Works, the new rental ceilings will apply to employees in federal ministries, divisions, attached departments, and subordinate offices located in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar.

Grade 22: The rent ceiling for Islamabad is now set at Rs 142,743 per month, up from Rs 98,444. For other cities, it has increased to Rs 125,989 from Rs 89,230.
Grade 21: Employees in this grade will receive Rs 119,278 in Islamabad (previously Rs 82,261) and Rs 98,378 in other cities (up from Rs 71,107).
Grade 20: The ceiling rises to Rs 99,615 in Islamabad from Rs 68,700, and to Rs 82,696 from Rs 59,079 in other cities.
Grade 19: Officials will now receive Rs 79,320 in Islamabad and Rs 65,542 in other cities, compared to previous rates of Rs 54,704 and Rs 46,816, respectively.
Grades 17 and 18: The rental ceiling has been increased to Rs 59,669 for Islamabad and Rs 49,808 for other cities, up from Rs 41,147 and Rs 35,898.
Grades 14 to 16: The new rates are Rs 45,073 in Islamabad and Rs 37,665 in other cities, rising from Rs 31,085 and Rs 27,134.
Grades 11 to 13: Employees will now receive Rs 35,878 in Islamabad and Rs 30,815 in other cities, compared to the previous Rs 24,744 and Rs 21,462.
Grades 7 to 10: The ceilings have increased to Rs 23,784 for Islamabad and Rs 20,112 for other cities, up from Rs 16,403 and Rs 14,682.
Grades 3 to 6: New rates are Rs 15,921 for Islamabad and Rs 13,230 for other cities, up from Rs 10,980 and Rs 9,654.
Grades 1 and 2: The new rental ceiling is Rs 10,192 for Islamabad and Rs 9,590 for other cities, compared to Rs 7,029 and Rs 6,591 previously.
