Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik recently expressed concerns about YouTube’s monetization program, labeling it “forbidden” according to Islamic principles. Speaking at an event in Port City, the founder of Peace TV emphasized that earning from YouTube is “haram” due to the content displayed in advertisements.

Dr. Naik highlighted ethical issues surrounding ad revenue, particularly pointing out that even if alcohol ads are blocked, advertisements featuring women in revealing clothing cannot be avoided.

He explained that although he has millions of followers and could earn substantial income, many channels that repost his videos use women’s images in their thumbnails, which attract more views than his original work.

He also shared his experience with shadow-banning, which has decreased the visibility of his clips, despite an increase in audience engagement since he began visiting Asian countries.

Dr. Naik urged those seeking ad revenue on platforms like YouTube to reconsider, stating that focusing on faith and leaving behind inappropriate earnings could lead to greater blessings in life.

This visit marks Dr. Naik’s first trip to Pakistan in three decades, with his initial visit occurring in the early 1990s. He currently resides in Malaysia due to controversies and legal challenges posed by the Modi-led government in India.
