Heavy Rainfalls Expected Across Pakistan’s Provinces

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning for significant rainfall across various regions of the country.

A low-pressure weather system, currently over the upper parts, is anticipated to move southward, bringing strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea. This is expected to impact Balochistan and Sindh from August 16 to 18, 2024, with rainfall persisting in the upper parts of the country until August 20.

Balochistan and Sindh Forecast

  • Balochistan: Sibi, Harnai, Ziarat, Kohlu, Barkhan, Dera Bugti, Zhob, and several other regions are likely to experience rain-wind/thundershower, including isolated heavyfalls from August 16 to 19.
  • Sindh: Sukkur, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Karachi, Hyderabad, and other areas are expected to see rain-wind/thundershower, with a few heavy falls from August 16 to 18.

Other Regions

  • Kashmir: Rainfall with some heavy falls is predicted in regions like Neelum valley and Muzaffarabad from August 16 to 20.
  • Punjab/Islamabad: Scattered heavyfalls are expected in cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and Lahore from August 16 to 20, while areas such as Bahawalpur and Multan will experience heavy rainfall on August 16 and 17.
  • Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa: Chitral, Dir, Swat, Peshawar, and surrounding areas will see scattered heavyfalls from August 16 to 20.
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: Regions like Diamir and Astore will face rain-wind/thunderstorm from August 16 to 18.

Citizens are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of potential heavy rainfall and associated hazards.
