During a ceremony at Blair House in Washington, President Joe Biden highlighted the importance of US-Pakistan relations for regional stability and security.
The event, held on Wednesday, marked the presentation of credentials to Biden by Pakistan’s 30th ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, in the presence of diplomatic community members and senior US officials.
Biden expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral ties and highlighted the countries’ collaboration on counterterrorism. He further noted that the two nations are united in addressing global challenges, such as climate change, regional security, and public health.

The ceremony follows recent US sanctions on organisations involved in providing Pakistan with equipment used for ballistic missiles. Despite these tensions, Biden reaffirmed the US’s commitment to standing with Pakistan in facing global and regional challenges.
The State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, acknowledged differences over missile support policies but affirmed Pakistan remains a long-term partner, and the US will continue safeguarding its national security interests.
Ambassador Sheikh, on behalf of Pakistan’s leadership, extended congratulations to the US and reiterated the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations.
