By QUETTA: As Balochistan grapples with the aftermath of devastating floods, the province prepares for another round of intense downpour and storms starting Thursday, as announced by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Wednesday.
The region has already suffered a significant loss of life, with at least 65 casualties reported nationwide, including 28 deaths from lightning strikes. The province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) has borne the brunt, recording 32 fatalities and extensive property damage.
In Balochistan, recent heavy rains triggered flash floods, particularly impacting areas like Gwadar and Pasni, where public and private buildings were submerged. The catastrophic floods have left communities in distress, with schools and homes damaged and lives lost.

Government sources confirm nine fatalities and nine injuries in Balochistan alone, with a state of emergency declared to facilitate relief efforts. However, the destruction is widespread, with numerous homes destroyed, infrastructure damaged, and transportation disrupted.
The forecast predicts further heavy rainfall and storms in the coming days, exacerbating the situation. The NDMA warns of potential flash floods and flooding in vulnerable areas, necessitating heightened vigilance and preparedness from relevant authorities.
