By WEB DESK: The national cricket team, particularly captain Babar Azam, is facing severe criticism after being eliminated in the first round of the T20 World Cup. Rumors of a leadership change within the team have resurfaced, but despite the poor performance, Azam has no plans to relinquish his role.
During a press conference in America, a journalist asked Azam if he would step down from his position as captain. Azam responded firmly, saying, “I was given the leadership of the team by the Pakistan Cricket Board and I have no intention of giving up the captaincy myself.”

Addressing the team’s performance, he added, “No one could perform as expected. We didn’t play well as a team. Now I can’t go and play for every player. After returning home, I will meet the Chairman PCB and present my report in this regard.”
Azam emphasized that any decision about his leadership would be made transparently. “If I have to leave the leadership, I will make a decision, but whatever I do, I will do it in front of everyone, I will not do it out of fear,” he stated.
Previously, Babar Azam had stepped down from the captaincy of all three formats following the team’s poor showings in the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup last year. Shaheen Afridi was then appointed captain of the T20 team, while Shan Masood took over the Test team. However, before the start of the current T20 World Cup, the PCB reinstated Azam as captain.
