Pakistani right-arm pacer, Haris Rauf will miss the national team’s second match of the ongoing tri-nation series series against South Africa.

According to the cricket board, Rauf sustained a muscular sprain in the lower chest and as a ‘precautionary measure’, will be rested for the upcoming match.

The extent of the injury is not serious and the right-arm speedster is likely to fully recover soon.

Remember, Rauf left the field midway during the 38th over of New Zealand’s innings in the opening match of the series at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

The 31-year-old also did not walk out to bat as Pakistan succumbed to a gruelling 78-run defeat in the crucial match.

Who is going to replace Haris Rauf?

According to recent reports, Akif Javed, Muhammad Ali, and Muhammad Wasim Jr. are being considered by the selection committee as possible tri-series and Champions Trophy replacements.

The leading candidate to succeed Rauf is Akif Javed, who is anticipated to make a formal declaration later today.

Wasim Akram, the renowned cricket player from Pakistan, is among the numerous analysts who have expressed concern about the PCB’s chosen squad’s dearth of spin-bowling options.

Teams may alter their rosters up till 12:00am on February 11 in accordance with International Cricket Council (ICC rules). Any other changes after this date will need the ICC Technical Committee’s permission.
