ISLAMABAD: The Establishment Division has issued the Gazette notification of the three judges transferred to the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday approved the transfer of three judges to the Islamabad High Court.

Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar moved from the Lahore High Court (LHC) to the IHC. Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro transferred from the Sindh High Court (SHC) to the IHC. Justice Muhammad Asif relocated from the Balochistan High Court.

Earlier, IHC judges wrote to President Zardari and Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi. They expressed concerns about the appointment of the IHC chief justice.

They urged that the chief justice should come from the court’s three senior judges. They also demanded reasons for appointing a judge from another high court.

The letter was copied to the Chief Justices of SHC and LHC. Several judges, including Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, signed it.

On January 18, the Ministry of Law and Justice appointed two additional judges to the IHC. President Zardari approved the appointments. The ministry notified Muhammad Azam Khan and Inaam Ameen Minhas as additional judges.

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan held two meetings on January 17. One discussed additional judge nominations for the IHC. The other reviewed nominations for the Balochistan High Court.
