ISLAMABAD: The government has sent a high-level team to investigate the death of Pakistani migrants in a boat accident near Morocco. The team left for Morocco today.
The team has been sent to Morocco at the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif who ordered the investigation into the unfortunate incident. The delegation includes officials from the FIA, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Intelligence Bureau.
The team will visit Rabat and Dakhla to meet survivors and investigate the incident. The team will also probe allegations of torture and killings. They will compile a report and submit it to the Prime Minister.
At least 50 migrants died trying to reach Spain illegally by boat from West Africa. Among them 44 were Pakistanis.

The boat had 86 people, including 66 Pakistanis, out of whom 36 were rescued.

Later, details emerged that these migrants were allegedly tortured and killed by human smugglers while demanding more money.
Earlier, 65 officers and employees of the FIA were blacklisted on the report of the investigation committee established by the Prime Minister’s House to investigate the Greek boat accidents, and more than 30 officials were dismissed from their jobs for aiding human smuggling.
