KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly has set a new record with the shortest session of the year on Friday.
As per media reports, the Sindh Assembly started its session with the recitation of the Holy Quran and a Naat.
The session commenced with just four members present in the House.
Shortly afterward, a lawmaker pointed out the lack of quorum, prompting the chair to adjourn the session. It was the shortest session lasting only for two minutes.
The first session of the new year, summoned by Acting Governor Syed Awais Qadir Shah under Article 109(a) of the Constitution, commenced on January 3, 2025.
However, the glaring absence of members highlighted concerns about the commitment of lawmakers to their legislative duties.
The lack of quorum and the swift adjournment has sparked public criticism, raising questions about the seriousness and accountability of the assembly’s operations.
In the previous session, the provincial assembly witnessed uproar as the opposition members, primarily from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), started protests over the contentious results of intermediate exams.
