World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has announced that the 2026 Royal Rumble will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This year’s Royal Rumble will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 1.
It is pertinent to mention that this is first time that the prestigious event will take place outside the United States (US).
Saudi Arabia has been having many international events in the country lately.
World-renowned Lebanese designer Elie Saab celebrated 45 years in the industry with a grand showcase titled “The 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab” in Saudi Arabia.
The anniversary fashion show in Saudi Arabia was criticised as “insensitive” amid Israel’s ongoing wars in Lebanon and Gaza. Similarly, some spoke against it, highlighting that the country is considered holy land for Muslims
WWE and Netflix
The latest episode of WWE’s Monday Night RAW, which aired recently made its highly anticipated debut on Netflix.
Netflix agreed to pay more than $5 billion for rights to show Raw and other WWE programming including Smackdown and Wrestlemania over 10 years, part of the streaming service’s move into live events that are attractive to advertisers.
WWE rose to popularity with colourful characters such as Hulk Hogan and future movie star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in ongoing storylines that hooked viewers.
Raw will stream live every Monday exclusively on Netflix in the United States, Canada, Latin America and other territories. It will arrive on Netflix in some countries later this year, including India in April.
In November, Netflix reported 65 million concurrent streams for a boxing match between 58-year-old Mike Tyson and 27-year-old YouTube personality Jake Paul. Some users reported buffering issues during the fight.
