PESHAWAR: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur announced Sunday that he would travel to Swabi at 3pm today to oversee preparations for the protest march to Islamabad.
The protest, organised by his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, will see participants from Swabi, Charsadda, Mardan, Peshawar, Buner, Swat, Mohmand, Bajaur, Khyber, and other districts converge in Swabi before proceeding to the capital.
In a statement, Gandapur urged PTI supporters planning to join the rally to assemble in Swabi by 3pm. He emphasised that he would personally lead the caravans departing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Islamabad.
The decision to go ahead with the planned protest was made after a high-level meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence in Peshawar, where PTI leaders finalised the strategy for the demonstration.
Gandapur confirmed the protest would proceed as planned, stating, “We will leave for Islamabad. The protest will continue until all demands are met.”
The PTI has vowed to persist with the rally until their political objectives are fulfilled. The PTI is demanding release of its workers arrested in May 9 riots and the independence of the judiciary.
