Each year, a large number of Pakistani nationals, along with workers from other countries, travel to Dubai and other states in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in search of employment.

As part of the visa process, these workers are required to complete a series of medical tests before receiving their work visas and employment contracts.

According to a UAE official, these tests are essential for maintaining the health and safety of both residents and citizens. Workers who do not meet the required health standards are repatriated to their home countries, as the UAE maintains a strict policy on protecting its population’s health, especially with the steady influx of foreign labor.

A representative from a medical test center in Abu Dhabi highlighted that the UAE mandates four specific medical tests for foreign workers, in line with international health regulations. These tests include:

  •  Complete Blood Count (CBC): To assess general health and detect any potential health disorders.
  •  Chest Ultrasound: To examine the lungs and respiratory system for abnormalities.
  • Joint Examinations: To evaluate the physical fitness of workers, particularly for labor-intensive jobs.
  • Blood Pressure Tests: To monitor cardiovascular health and identify any risks.

A central medical testing facility has been established to streamline this process for job seekers, ensuring health assessments meet global standards. As employment opportunities continue to grow, passing these tests is a crucial step for those aiming to join the UAE workforce.
