The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) has announced plans to restore the Pir Sohawa hilltop in Margalla Hills National Park. This initiative aims to bring the area back to its natural state before reopening it to the public.

Previously, the hilltop, famous for its scenic views, housed several large restaurants. However, these establishments were shut down after the Supreme Court declared them illegal. Now, the focus is on transforming Pir Sohawa into an open-air space that promotes both public access and wildlife conservation.

As part of the restoration project, comfortable seating will be provided for visitors to enjoy the views, and native plants will be introduced to encourage biodiversity. Educational displays will also be set up to inform visitors about local wildlife.

Furthermore, a water harvesting system will be installed to ensure sustainable water use.

The IWMB plans to remove unnecessary concrete structures while maintaining retaining walls, and an emergency response facility will be set up to handle firefighting and other emergencies.

Solar lights will be switched off at night to reduce disruption to the wildlife. The goal is to create a space that enhances visitor experience while raising awareness about nature conservation.
