The latest Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI_V5) report has revealed Pakistan’s significant progress in cybersecurity. The country has moved up to the top tier, known as Role-Modeling, a major improvement from its previous ranking at 79 two years ago.
The GCI categorizes countries into five performance tiers:
- Tier 1 (Top): Role-Modeling
- Tier 2: Advancing
- Tier 3: Establishing
- Tier 4: Evolving
- Tier 5: Building

Pakistan’s advancement to the Role-Modeling tier means it is now among the top 46 countries for its exceptional cybersecurity practices.
This ranking highlights Pakistan’s strong performance in several key areas, including legal frameworks, organizational measures, and capacity building.
The report underscores Pakistan’s commitment to improving its cybersecurity infrastructure and implementing effective protocols to combat cyber threats. This achievement demonstrates the country’s progress in establishing robust cybersecurity measures and its dedication to protecting digital environments.
