WEB DESK: Former Federal Minister and prominent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul has petitioned the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to remove her name from the Exit Control List (ECL) to perform Hajj.
The IHC has notified the Interior Secretary to respond to the problem. Judge Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri designated a senior person from the Federal Interior Secretary’s office to support the court and issued a written hearing order regarding Zartaj Gul’s plea.
In addition, the designated official has been mandated to appear in court during the next hearing, equipped with relevant records and a thorough understanding of the case.
Furthermore, the court’s directives underline the petitioner’s argument, as presented by his legal representative, that although Gul faces legal proceedings stemming from the registration of multiple cases against her, she is not a fugitive and has been granted bail.

Gul’s petition contends that no legal or ethical rationale exists for imposing travel restrictions on her, including her inclusion in the ECL, No-Fly List, or PNIL (Provisional National Identification List).
It further showed that a previous request made in March to remove her name from the PNIL remained unanswered.
The legal tussle comes after the Federal Ministry of Interior’s decision, a few months ago, to place Gul on the ECL, citing various charges, including the May 9 case.
