The Henley Passport Index has released its 2024 rankings, with Singapore maintaining its status as the world’s most powerful passport, offering visa-free access to 195 destinations.

Co-created by Henley & Partners, a London-based global citizenship and residence advisory firm, the index shows that Singaporeans enjoy visa-free travel to 195 locations, solidifying its top position.

France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain are tied for second place, with their citizens able to visit 192 destinations without a visa.

In third place are Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Sweden, while the United Kingdom, Belgium, Denmark, New Zealand, Norway, and Switzerland rank fourth.

Moreover, Australia and Portugal share fifth place, granting visa-free access to 189 destinations.

The United States has dropped to eighth place, with its passport allowing visa-free entry to 186 countries—a notable decline in recent years.

Conversely, Afghanistan holds the position of the weakest passport, with its citizens able to travel to only 26 countries without a visa—the lowest score in the index’s nearly two-decade history. Pakistan and Yemen are ranked 100th.

The Henley Passport Index, which has been assessing global travel freedom for 19 years, ranks 227 countries and territories using data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
