WEB DESK: Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has come to emerge as the highest taxpayer in India amongst all celebrities, contributing a massive ₹92 crore as taxes for the financial year 2023-24, according to Times of India.
This extraordinary number was due to the huge box-office collections in the last financial year from his three successful films, making him the highest-paid actor in India after nearly 10 years. They include all collections from Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, which earned a whopping ₹2600 crore altogether, with Pathaan itself collecting about ₹1000 crore worldwide, followed by Jawan at ₹1150 crore.
Thalapathy Vijay stands just behind Khan as he is called in Tamil movies, with ₹80 crore to pay. The 50-year-old star actor pretty much had the year of his life, as The Greatest of All Time raked in more than ₹600 crore. Sources claim Vijay fetched above ₹200 crore with that particular film.
Others listed are Salman Khan, who redeemed ₹75 crore; Amitabh Bachchan, a Bollywood star, paid ₹71 crore; and cricket superstar Virat Kohli, who contributed ₹66 crore tax. Kareena Kapoor also makes her entry in the list, crowned female celebrity who paid the most tax declaration of ₹20 crore, thereby just missing the list of top 10.
