The United Kingdom has introduced new measures for international students arriving in September 2024. The updated Graduate Visa allows international students to stay for up to two years to work and live in the UK after graduation.

The Labour government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting international students, a departure from previous concerns about visa restrictions.

Despite these positive developments, some students remain concerned about the job market, associated costs, including health surcharges, and potential future sponsorship challenges. However, the latest measures offer a promising outlook for those starting their studies this year.

UK Education Secretary underscored the government’s dedication to aiding overseas students, acknowledging their courage in relocating to a new country. She highlighted that the current government, led by Starmer, is committed to supporting international students throughout their academic journey.

International students contribute significantly to the UK by bringing diverse skills and backgrounds. This year, UK institutions have seen an increase in applications, including 3,690 from the Gulf region, with students from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and other countries also choosing UK universities.

The UK’s Graduate Visa route allows international students to stay and work in the UK after graduation without needing a job offer or proof of finances.

To qualify, applicants must score 70 points by meeting requirements related to course completion, qualifications, and studying in the UK. Applications are made online, and those with a PhD can receive a three-year visa. The fee for the Graduate Visa is £822.
