The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a transformative overhaul of its travel ban procedures, aimed at modernising and expediting the process. The Ministry of Justice has launched a fully automated system that is set to streamline the removal of travel bans and eliminate bureaucratic delays.
Reform highlights
The newly implemented system, a key element of the UAE’s “Zero Government Bureaucracy” initiative, incorporates several significant enhancements:
- Automated Ban Removal: Individuals who meet the criteria will now have their travel bans automatically lifted, bypassing the need for manual intervention and simplifying the process.
- Immediate Processing: Replacing the previous multi-step procedure, the new paperless system allows for the nearly instantaneous lifting of travel bans, saving valuable time for both officials and residents.
- Elimination of Bureaucracy: The reform eradicates nine procedural steps, achieving a “100 percent zero bureaucracy rate” and significantly improving the efficiency of government services.
- No Documentation Needed: There is no longer a requirement for individuals to provide proof of lawsuit termination or other documents to lift a travel ban, further streamlining the procedure.
- Efficiency in Time: The overhaul reduces the time required to lift a travel ban from an entire working day to just a few minutes.
