Turkey on Wednesday restricted access to major social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, after a blast on the Turkish Aerospace Industries headquarters in Ankara according to the international reports.

NetBlocks, the internet monitoring organisation, reported that restrictions on major social media platforms began shortly after the blast in Turkey on Wednesday.

They noted that social media usage has been limited in Turkey during this time. The Turkish government took this action to manage the information being shared about the attack around the world.

NetBlocks in a post on X wrote”Confirmed: Live metrics show social media platforms including X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok have been restricted in #Turkey”

Media reports indicated a loud explosion followed by an exchange of gunfire at the TUSAS site. While the cause of the explosion remains unclear, some sources speculated it could have been a suicide attack. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.

Television footage showed a damaged gate and a nearby clash in a parking area, highlighting the intensity of the situation. The extent of the damage and the full details of the attack are still under investigation.
