Former President Donald Trump attended a UFC event on Saturday night and made headlines by claiming he would put an end to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
While conversing with Khabib Nurmagomedov, the retired Russian mixed martial artist, Trump assured, “We will stop it. I will stop the war,” in response to Nurmagomedov’s statement, “I know you will stop the war in Palestine.”
Since the escalation of hostilities on October 7, when Israel launched attacks on Gaza, more than 30,000 Palestinians have lost their lives.
Trump made his entrance into the arena accompanied by UFC President Dana White, and on his way to his seat, he greeted comedian Theo Von. The former president received a warm reception from the crowd, who greeted him with thunderous applause. Trump also took a moment to shake hands with some of the fans in attendance.
This appearance comes on the heels of Trump being convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records earlier in the week. Saturday’s event marked one of the first public sightings of Trump since the verdict, where he had pleaded guilty to all the charges.
