India-made eye drops can improve vision in 15 minutes

The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved a new eye drop to reduce dependence on reading glasses.

Mumbai-based Entod Pharmaceuticals announced it will launch the PresVu eye drops in early October. This is India’s first eye drop specifically designed for presbyopia, a common vision issue that affects people over 40.

The approval came after a recommendation by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO). Dr. Aditya Sethi stated that PresVu improves near vision within 15 minutes, offering an alternative to reading glasses and contact lenses.

Nikkhil K Masurkar, CEO of Entod Pharmaceuticals, described the approval as a major step toward better eye care in India, aiming to improve the quality of life for millions. The company also plans to introduce the product in Africa and Southeast Asia.
