AKTAU: A passenger plane carrying around 100 passengers crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan’s Mangistau region.
Kazakhstan’s Emergencies Ministry confirmed the plane crash saying the Azerbaijan Airlines plane was en route from Baku to Russia.
Azerbaijan Airlines said the Embraer 190 aircraft, with flight number J2-8243, had been flying from Baku to Grozny in Russia’s Chechnya but was rerouted due to fog in Grozny, Kazakhstan’s Emergencies Ministry added.
A passenger plane on its way to Russia has crashed in Kazakhstan, Russian news agencies reported on Wednesday, citing Kazakhstan’s Emergencies Ministry.
According to initial reports, fourteen people had survived the crash and had been hospitalised.
“At the moment, 14 survivors have been taken to the regional hospital, including five in intensive care,” the health ministry’s regional department said in a statement.
