According to media, an average of 60 khula cases (women-initiated divorces) are being filed daily.
Over the past eight months alone, more than 5,500 women have sought legal separation, according to court records.

At present, over 11,000 divorce cases are pending in Lahore’s courts. Common issues cited in these cases are domestic violence, theft, and abusive behaviour.
Legal experts handling these cases suggest that inflation and societal intolerance are key factors contributing to the dissolution marriages.
