KUWAIT CITY: A court in Kuwait sentenced a woman to three years in prison with hard labor for insulting the Emir of Kuwait Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and inciting the overthrow of the regime on social media site X.
The Criminal Court convicted her for violating the State Security Crimes Law through her social media activity and misusing communication devices.
While the defendant denied the charges, claiming she had been coerced into making the posts under external threats, the court upheld the charges after a thorough investigation.
Following an investigation, the court confirmed the charges, emphasising Kuwait’s firm stance against actions deemed harmful to state security.
