The Punjab government has revised the timings for school students and teachers because of the winter season.
The new timings will be implemented from tomorrow (October 15) and will last until March 2025.
During winter season, the school students will come to their schools from 8:45pm to 2:45pm from Monday till Thursday. However, on holy day of fridays, they will be dismissed at 12:45pm.
Similarly, the government also issued directives for teachers, according to which during weekdays, they must be present in school from 8:30am to 3:00pm. However, on fridays they will get free at 1:00pm.
Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) will be off for students, but on Satudays teachers will need to come to their work for nearly three hours from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Smog in Punjab ahead of winters
A global pollution index on Monday listed two Pakistani cities among the top most polluted cities in the world.
The Air Quality Index (AQI), which tracks air quality in real-time, placed Lahore and Karachi at number one and three, respectively.
The air quality index for Lahore on Monday was 229 with Karachi recording an AQI of 181. Iraq’s capital Baghdad took the second spot in AQI with 200.
