WEB DESK: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, stated on Tuesday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan might be freed from jail on June 27.

Speaking to a private TV channel, Sanaullah stated that the government would make every effort to keep Khan incarcerated, citing concerns over his potential to incite chaos. Despite the possibility of Khan’s release, Sanaullah assured there would be no major disturbance. “Imran Khan’s sole message is anarchy and disorder,” he said, stressing that dialogue was the only option in a democratic environment. However, he noted that discussions could only proceed if Khan had abandoned his current stance of fostering unrest.

Sanaullah reiterated that the government’s response would be severe if Khan had continued to provoke unrest but expressed a willingness to engage in talks if the situation allowed. “Our attitudes will reflect his actions. We are ready to talk whenever there is an opportunity,” he stated.

The advisor criticised Imran Khan for not upholding democratic values, asserting that no one had the right to harm the country. “We will ensure that Imran Khan remains imprisoned within the bounds of the law,” he added.

When questioned about parliamentary seats, Sanaullah affirmed that parties with specified seat allocations were constitutionally entitled to them and suggested that amendments to the Election Act could be considered if necessary.

Rana Sanaullah also denied reports of a meeting between Nawaz Sharif and former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa during the no-confidence motion, dismissing Muhammad Zubair’s statements as speculative and incorrect. He acknowledged that Shehbaz Sharif had visited General Bajwa when he was head of an institution, explaining that such meetings were routine as members of the establishment were integral to the country.
