WhatsApp is set to roll out a new feature allowing users to double-tap messages for quick reactions. This functionality, already a feature in Instagram DMs, is being introduced to WhatsApp as well.
The double-tap message reactions feature is currently being tested on Android with the latest beta build. To access it, users must be part of the WhatsApp beta channel for Android, which can be joined via the Play Store—though availability may be limited due to high demand.
The new feature allows users to quickly react to any message with a double tap. This applies to photos, videos, and GIFs directly from the media viewer screen.

By double-tapping to react, you save time compared to the traditional method of long-pressing and selecting a reaction.
Double-tapping will add a heart emoji reaction, similar to Instagram. For other emoji reactions, users will need to long-press the message to access the reaction tray and select their desired emoji.
Interestingly, there will be no option to disable the double-tap to react feature, which could lead to accidental reactions on old messages while scrolling through chat history. Since it’s now in the beta phase, it is expected to be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks or months.
