A scientist who spent more than three months underwater claims this experience made him younger.

Record-Breaking Underwater Stay

In 2023, Professor Joseph Dituri from the United States spent 93 days under the Atlantic Ocean. Known as Dr. Deep Sea, Dituri set a record by living in Jules’ Undersea Lodge, an underwater habitat for scuba divers in Florida.

Life in an Underwater Habitat

Dituri’s living pod, spread over 100 square feet, was 30 feet below the Atlantic Ocean’s surface. Despite its small size, the pod included a work area, kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms, and a small swimming pool, which was the entry and exit point.

Unique Living Conditions

Unlike a submarine, the lodge lacked technology to help adapt to underwater pressure. The purpose of this experiment was to understand the effects of long-term living under high pressure on the human body. During his stay, Dituri underwent various physical and mental tests.

Health Benefits of Underwater Living

From March to June 2023, Dituri set a Guinness World Record by living underwater. When he resurfaced, he claimed all indicators of inflammation in his body had decreased by 50%. He mentioned other health improvements, such as the lengthening of his telomeres.

Biological Age Reversal

Dituri stated that during this experiment, the length of his telomeres increased, and his biological age decreased. “My actual age is 56 years, but my biological age has now become 44 years. When I came out of the water, my biological age was recorded as 34 years,” he said. “So my telomeres have lengthened, and living underwater has made me younger than before.”

Additional Health Improvements

After this stay, his cholesterol level dropped by 72 points, and the quality of his sleep improved by 60 to 66%. During his underwater stay, he exercised for an hour daily, maintaining his muscle mass, but his body weight decreased, and his metabolism rate increased.
