WATCH: blind porter carries luggage with 6-year-old daughter’s support

WEB DESK: In the bustling town of Jacobabad, Sindh, Akbar Ali Jamali stands out as a unique figure. Despite being visually impaired, Akbar Ali earns an honest living as the sole porter at the Jacobabad Railway Station, carrying luggage with the invaluable help of his young daughter.

For the past few years, Akbar Ali has relied on his 6-year-old daughter for assistance in his demanding job. Together, they navigate the challenges of daily life, showcasing a remarkable bond and resilience.

Earlier this year, a special function was organised in Islamabad to honour visually impaired individuals. The event, held at the office of the Muslim World League Pakistan, highlighted the achievements and struggles of people like Akbar Ali.

The ceremony saw the participation of notable figures, including Dr. Jamal Nasir, the then-Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Health and Population Welfare Punjab, who attended as the chief guest. The event also featured the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Nawaf bin Said al-Malki, who made a special appearance, underscoring the importance of supporting visually impaired persons in Pakistan.
