USA win toss, elect to Bowl first against Canada in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Opener

WEB DESK: In the much-anticipated opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, the United States of America (USA) captain Monank Patel won the toss and elected to bowl first against Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas, the co-host of the tournament.

The encounter marks the first meeting between the two teams, both placed in Group A of the ICC World Cup. However, they share a significant cricketing history, having faced each other in the first-ever international cricket match in 1844 at the St. George’s Cricket Club in New York.

The USA enters the tournament with confidence, following an impressive 2-1 T20I series victory against Bangladesh. Additionally, the hosts demonstrated their prowess by defeating Canada 4-0 in a series held in Houston back in April.
