Fans of Urmila Matondkar may be disheartened by recent developments, as the acclaimed actor has officially filed for divorce from her husband, businessman and model Mohsin Akhtar Mir, after eight years of marriage.
A source from a Mumbai court, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that the 50-year-old actor has taken this significant step following her marriage to the Kashmiri entrepreneur in 2016.
According to the source, “After careful consideration, Urmila has decided to call it quits on her marriage with Mohsin. She has already filed for divorce in court. While the reason behind the separation is still not known, the divorce isn’t happening on mutual terms.” This revelation has left fans speculating about the circumstances leading to their split.

Intimate nuptials and professional endeavors
Urmila and Mohsin, who is 40 years old, exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at her Mumbai residence in 2016, attended by a select few, including renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra. Their marriage attracted media attention, notably due to their 10-year age difference.
Beyond her film career, Urmila Matondkar ventured into politics in 2019, initially joining the Indian National Congress before moving to the Shiv Sena in 2020. On-screen, she was last featured in a song titled “Bewafa Beauty” from the 2018 film Blackmail and has also made appearances on television as a judge for a children’s dance reality show. Mohsin, meanwhile, is known for his work in Kashmiri embroidery and craftsmanship, collaborating with Malhotra’s fashion label.
