Pakistani cricketers Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir have decided to retire from international cricket once again following their underwhelming performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup, according to Express News.

The reports suggest that both Amir and Wasim plan to announce their retirement after their final match for Pakistan against Ireland in Florida on Sunday. The players had initially come out of retirement to join the squad for the T20 World Cup but failed to make a significant impact.

The media outlet added that formal announcements from both cricketers will follow shortly, after which they intend to focus solely on playing in league cricket.

On the other hand, Imad Wasim has openly taken responsibility for Pakistan’s unsuccessful run-chase against India in a highly anticipated ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 match. During a pre-match press conference before Pakistan’s last game against Ireland, Imad explained the missteps in their approach against India.

“Our strategy against India was to prolong the chase, but I couldn’t follow through effectively,” Imad confessed.

“The wicket was challenging, and I disappointed the team. In these situations, I usually maintain composure and complete the task, but this time I failed. It’s very disheartening, but mistakes are part of the game. While our planning seemed solid, the execution was not up to the mark.”

Imad expressed deep regret over not being able to see the chase through, acknowledging that his inability to do so negatively affected the team’s chances.
