A Turkish TikToker, Kubra Aykut, who gained widespread attention after marrying herself in a viral “wedding without a groom” video, has committed suicide
She died after falling from the fifth floor of a luxury apartment in Istanbul.
Reason behind suicide
Before her death, the turkish influencer had shared her struggles with weight loss on social media.
In he suicide note, she said: “I jumped off my own free will. Because I don’t want to live anymore. Take good care of Fistik,” believed to be her pet, Aykut wrote.
She continued, “I was good to everyone in my life, but I couldn’t be good to myself. In this life, be selfish. That way, you will be happy.”
“I’ve been struggling for days, but no one noticed. I’m leaving because I love myself and want to think about myself for once,” the note continued.
Kubra Aykut, who had over a million TikTok followers and 200,000 on Instagram, had been vocal about her battle with body image issues.
Investigations into the circumstances of her death are ongoing. A suicide note was found at the scene, in which Kubra expressed personal struggles.
