The All Pakistan Public Transport Federation (APTC) has announced a 5% reduction in transport fares, according to a statement by APTC President Malik Nadeem on Monday.
The decision comes in response to the recent decrease in petroleum product prices, with the aim of providing more affordable public transport options to the people.

However, Nadeem also called on the government to further lower the prices of spare parts, tyres, and challan fees to support transporters. He added that the current reduction in petroleum prices is minimal compared to global oil rates and urged for more significant cuts in fuel costs.
The government recently announced a reduction in petrol prices by Rs10 per liter, bringing the cost down to Rs249.10 per liter. Additionally, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs13.06, now costing Rs249.69 per liter.
The adjustments to fuel prices were made following recommendations by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) based on international market fluctuations.
