Following the decrease in petroleum product prices, the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi, Hasan Waqar Cheema, has directed transporters to lower transport fares by 5 percent.
In a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema, transporters and bus stand owners decided to lower fares by 5 percent on all routes in Rawalpindi in response to the reduced petroleum product prices.
He added that the fare list must be visibly displayed at all bus stands, and a dedicated team should ensure daily checks to enforce the reduced fares.
He ordered banners to be displayed at lorry stands and Suzuki stops to inform the public about the reduced fares. Furthermore, he ordered to set up a complaint cell at the RTA Secretary’s office to address fare-related complaints.
The Deputy Commissioner said that citizens can file complaints by calling the Complaint Cell at 051-9270011. The District Regional Transport Authority Secretary, Rashid Ali, said that a new price list would be issued in 24 hours.

On the other hand, public transport operators in Lahore have also decided to lower fares by 3 to 5 percent on inter-city routes. The decision was taken in a meeting led by Haji Akram Zaki, Chairman of the All Pakistan Public Transport Owners Federation.
Under this decision, fares have been cut by 10 rupees for trips from Lahore to Faisalabad, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Similarly, fares for longer routes like Lahore to Karachi and Quetta have been reduced by 50 rupees per passenger for one-way travel.
