It will surely shock some cricket fans to learn that our very own Shahid Afridi AKA Lala holds the record for the longest six in cricket history.
It is pertinent to mention that Afridi is not the only one to achieve this milestone. Other legends have also struck incredible sixes. Here is a list of them.
1. Shahid Afridi
The longest six in cricket history was smashed by former cricketer and ex-captain of Pakistan cricket team, Shahid Afridi. As per records, he hit 153 meters six making it the biggest six ever seen in the cricket world. He hit the six against South African player, Ryan Mclaren in 2013.
2. Brett Lee
Australian fast bowler Brett Lee is known for hitting the second biggest six in international cricket history. In 2005, he hit a 130-meters six against the West Indies. The ball literally fell into the practice nets behind the stadium, which also left Lee in utter shock and disbelief.
3. Martin Guptill
New Zealand’s Martin Guptill recently joined the list of cricketers who have hit some of the longest sixes in cricket history. Guptill smashed a 127-meter six in a T20I vs. Lonwabo Tsotsobe of South Africa in 2022. The ball was struck so powerfully over the mid-wicket boundary that it hit the roof of the stadium before coming down.
4. Liam Livingstone
England’s Liam Livingstone is renowned for his power-hitting and has made a name for himself with his immense sixes on the cricket field. However, he is particularly famous for his spectacular 122-meter six against Pakistan’s Haris Rauf during the 2nd T20I at Headingley in 2021.
5. Corey Anderson
New Zealand’s Corey Anderson was well-known for his ability to hit massive sixes throughout his international cricket career. During the first ODI against India in 2014, Anderson struck a 122-meter six off Mohd Shami, which is regarded as one of the biggest sixes in cricket history. This incredible feat underscored Anderson’s reputation as one of the hardest hitters of the cricket ball in the world.
