GILGIT: The Special Communication Organisation (SCO), a telecom company, inaugurated 61 software technology parks in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on Saturday.
These 61 software technology parks and freelancing hubs were established in a record 16 months.
The project aims to empower youths of both regions with modern education and niche skills to help them promote their businesses.
According to SCO these IT parks and freelancing hubs will play a vital role in providing a friendly atmosphere to local communities.
This project will help youth to achieve success by using their own skills. The SCO said that it was their 21st project established under 50 software technology parks project.
The newly established setups have been provided uninterrupted power supply and equipped with enhanced internet speed facilities.
The IT setups and hubs have been designed to unlock youth potential and promote the local economy.
The SCO said in a statement that it provides facilities to special children to enhance their skills without affecting their studies.
Moreover, the organisation also established freelancing hubs for women where they were getting training in a safe environment.
Through these IT setups, more than 6500 employment opportunities were generated and 1600 freelancers were made self-independent.

Under the 2025 vision, the region will be transformed into a hub of Information Technology in the future.
