ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at all petrol pumps in the city.
Federal Minister directed the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at all operating petrol pumps in Islamabad in the fourth meeting held in connection with the Electric Vehicles Policy.
During the meeting, he directed the CDA to install charging stations at all petrol pumps. He also hailed the performance of the authority.
In the meeting, Rana Tanveer Hussain also announced the provision of free electric bikes to the top 120 students of the Federal Board.
He said that the government also working on the provision of incentivized electric two and three-wheelers.
He said that 39,000 electric bikes and 1,900 electric rickshaws would be provided on concessional loans.
Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain directed that the entire process be digitized for transparency.
He said that Islamabad will be made a model city according to the Prime Minister’s vision.
Earlier, the Punjab government had announced an electric bike project. Later the provincial government of Punjab decided to cancel the project. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
