Elon Musk wants to buy ChatGPT maker OpenAI

WEBDESK: Elon Musk, the head of SpaceX and Tesla, wants to buy OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, and has placed a huge bid to take over the company.

Musk’s special group has offered a $97.4 billion to take over OpenAI. This move was made after Musk initially launched a lawsuit against OpenAI to prevent it from becoming a profit-driven company.

According to Al Jazeera, last year, Elon Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI on the grounds that OpenAI’s founders initially approached him to fund a non-profit focused on developing AI to benefit humanity. However, they are now focused on making money.

He added further claims in his lawsuit in December, asking the judge over the case to stop OpenAI from becoming a for-profit company.

According to the report, Elon Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015. He later parted ways with them in 2019.

Elon Musk launched his own artificial intelligence company, “xAI”, in 2023, which is making a big name for itself in the AI world.

Open AI is an influential figure in the AI industry. Elon Musk’s bid to buy OpenAI can cause further tension between him and OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman.

Sam Altman replied to Elon Musk’s opening bid with a sarcastic comment on the social platform, X.

Altman said, “No, thank you, but we will buy X for $9.74 billion if you want.”
