Adobe Premiere Pro welcomes AI video integration

WEB DESK: Adobe is venturing into the realm of AI-driven artistry with an upcoming iteration of Premiere Pro, marking a significant leap in video editing technology.

Following its pioneering strides in AI art over the past two years, including the innovative concepts of “inpainting” and “outpainting,” Adobe is now extending these capabilities to Premiere Pro. The concept of “outpainting” garnered attention by using AI to seamlessly expand the boundaries of photographs and paintings, adding plausible elements to the scenes.

On Monday, Adobe showcased a video rendition of its Generative Fill technique, akin to its application in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Firefly generative AI art. This feature allows users to extend or modify visual content beyond its original confines. For instance, users can remove or replace elements within a video clip seamlessly, as demonstrated in Adobe’s preview video.

In the demonstration, Premiere Pro’s Generative AI empowers editors to select objects within a scene and remove them across multiple frames, creating a seamless continuity. Additionally, editors can utilize the Generative Fill feature to extend scenes effortlessly. While this extension proves effective for static shots, more complex motion or transitions may pose challenges.

Furthermore, Adobe introduces text-to-video generation tools, expanding its Firefly capabilities. Users can now generate video clips directly from text prompts, offering a streamlined content creation process. Adobe also showcases integration with third-party AI video tools, enabling users to seamlessly incorporate footage from Sora and Runway into their projects.

To maintain transparency, Adobe plans to label AI-generated footage with its “Content Credentials” logo, similar to its approach with static images. This logo will be embedded in the file’s metadata, ensuring clarity regarding the content’s origin.

Finally, Adobe harnesses AI to enhance audio editing capabilities within Premiere Pro. AI algorithms will identify audio clips and automatically initiate relevant editing tools, streamlining the editing process and enabling features like audio fades.

With these advancements, Adobe aims to revolutionise video editing by harnessing the power of AI to unlock new creative possibilities and streamline workflow efficiency.
