Tabu joins cast of ‘Dune: Prophecy’ with compelling role

WEB DESK: In an exciting development for fans of the Dune universe, veteran Indian actress Tabu has secured a captivating recurring role in the highly anticipated Max prequel series, Dune: Prophecy.

As reported by Variety, Tabu will portray Sister Francesca, a character described as “strong, intelligent, and alluring.” Sister Francesca, once a great love of the Emperor, returns to the palace, disrupting the delicate balance of power in the capital.

Originally titled ‘Dune: The Sisterhood’, the series was commissioned back in 2019 and is inspired by the novel ‘Sisterhood of Dune’, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

The series delves into the expansive universe created by Frank Herbert, set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides. It follows two Harkonnen sisters as they battle forces threatening humanity’s future and lay the foundations for the Bene Gesserit sect.

Joining Tabu in the ensemble cast are Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Johdi May, Travis Fimmel, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Mark Strong, Chloe Lea, Josh Heuston, Jade Anouka, Edward Davis, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, Shalom Brune-Franklin, and Chris Mason.

On the professional front, Tabu was last seen in the blockbuster heist comedy film ‘Crew’, alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon. Her role in ‘Dune: Prophecy’ promises to be a thrilling addition to her impressive career.
